Our 10 Year Islington Anniversary – An open Invitation to the Mayor of Islington

Today is not only my sisters birthday it marks 10 years of taking a leap of faith and moving from our temporary home in Plymouth to starting our lives in Islington London.
❤️
We chose to live here to support my sister and her hubby with their gorgeous newborn twins (who are now 11, yikes!)
But in the past 10 years Islington has opened up like a flower and embraced us.
❤️
I got hired by Macmillan Publishers, it lead to an offer to publish my book Burlesque or Bust (which is really the love-story of meeting my hubby), we launched Ibiza Burlesque Festival, we set a world record and I later met my idol Richard Branson.
❤️
We owe so much of the precious time we have had here to our local community. Our amazing landlords have looked out for us when times were tough, our neighbours saved us during an ordeal last year.
❤️
So I wrote this song Sanctuary about living in my current home, it’s so spacious I have a beautiful restored antique piano, the first time I’ve owned a piano in my life (thanks to all who donated on my Go-Fund-Me to restore it.)
❤️
Tomorrow I am performing Sanctuary live in Islington and this is an open invitation to the Mayor of Islington, Councillor Anjna Khurana to come and enjoy the performance.

Dear Madame Mayor,

On the 25th of October 2024 my beloved husband Antony Silcock and I celebrate living in beautiful borough of Islington for 10 years in the year that is also our 10 year wedding anniversary.

As an Australian who relocated from Melbourne and persuaded my Plymouth born husband to move to the big smoke, I have loved this magnificent location.

You’re invited to our event.

What: Sanctuary Music Launch

Date: Saturday 30th November

Time: 5pm

Location: Kings Place, Rotunda, 90 York Way, N1 9AG

I’ve written a song called Sanctuary about our home because it’s been so blessed to move to this bigger space and we originally launched the song for World Gratitude Day in 2021 when so many members of the borough of Islington as well as family and friends donated on a Go Fund Me to help me restore the piano on which I wrote my song. https://www.islingtongazette.co.uk/news/21224649.highbury-burlesque-performer-fundraising-restore-piano/

Now I’ll be playing and performing at Rotunda and dedicating the performance to my husband with plans to release the song in honour of the Borough of Islington before Christmas.

Capably assisted by audio engineer James Cunningham, we have actually recorded Sanctuary professionally on the very piano the community helped me restore and we will have the broadcast version ready soon. I believe the idea of a sanctuary is so relevant and I hope the lyrics of this song uplift people, too.

Madam Mayor, you have done so much to provide a sanctuary to the people of Islington in your time on council, we would love you to be there for the performance.
